My goals for August

My goals for August

I know it’s been said a bazillion times but I honestly can’t BELIEVE how fast this year is going. It’s ridiculous that it’s already August. I feel like I’ll blink and the Christmas tree will be up. Is it me or does life speed up as the years go by? The sheer quickness of it all has given me some incredible new month motivation. I’m feeling inspired not to let life just rush past me but to value each day as best I can. This month, I want to really make the most of my time and to do so, I’ve set myself some goals:

🌻 Do more yoga!

Start as you mean to go on eh? Wednesday morning (1st of Aug) I jumped out of bed – early! – ready for a wake-up yoga sesh. And EVERY time I do yoga I wonder why I don’t do more yoga. It makes me feel incredible. I was literally in the best mood all day because I woke myself up slowly with some beautiful stretches and a few sun salutations. I did this 25 minute YouTube video. It was my first time doing one of Sean’s videos and I just adore his passion and energy – whilst being extremely jealous of his gorgeous balcony!

The goal for August is to do yoga at least 3-4 times a week… #yogi #namaste

🌻 Nurture my friendships

I feel like I spent the whole of July – maybe even the past few months – in my own little stress bubble. I’m still learning how to balance this job/my commute with life, my hobbies, family, friends, everything! A few weeks ago, one of my best friend’s gave me the biggest wake up call I’ve possibly ever had: that I haven’t been a very good friend lately. Though it was painful to hear, it well and truly burst the bubble I seem to have built around myself. She was completely and utterly right. I’ve been so focused on my own wellbeing throughout this period of change that my friendships have taken a bit of a backseat. Absolutely not okay.

So August is all about making an effort in my friendships. More catch ups, more hugs, more laughs, just more.

🌻See more of our family

Since writing this post, I’ve been so keen to organise more dinner dos! My goal this month is to have family round for dinner and have a real good catch-up with wine and homemade yumminess. Life goes incredibly fast and I think often we take family for granted because we just assume they’ll always be there. Well, sadly they won’t – so let’s eat, drink and enjoy each other!

🌻Archive favourite memories

The other day I was watching my old vlogs on YouTube and it suddenly dawned on me that YouTube/Facebook/the internet itself is not a guaranteed storage system. What if Facebook disappeared tomorrow? What if a terrible virus deleted a ton of internet archives? Yeah it’s super unlikely…but it made me realise that I don’t have all of my photos/videos saved in a safe place. This month, I want to dedicate time to archiving my favourite memories so I can look back on them when I’m older and one day, show my kids!

🌻Project ‘make nice art for the living room’

Since we decorated our living room last year, we’ve had a big blank space on the wall behind our sofa PERFECT for a huge piece of art. We’ve been searching for the finishing touch since October but surprise surprise, large pieces of art are expensiveeeee (the one I wanted was £300…). See, we don’t want your average cityscape from The Range – we want something totally unique. After some deliberation and Jack’s encouragement, I’ve decided to paint my own thing. I’ve got a 1m x 1m canvas, a load of beautiful acrylic paints and no experience whatsoever. Eeek! But hey – let’s give it a go! This month, I’m going to make a great start on our living room masterpiece and push myself creatively. And if it looks shit, I’ll have a great ‘Pinterest fail’ post 😉

🌻And lastly I want to…

Work really hard to save money (we still have a BIG payment due in September for our holiday to Mexico), read a new book, continue writing this blog frequently, work at getting more email subscribers (if you haven’t yet subscribed, pretty please do!) and go on more spontaneous (cheap!) adventures.

I think it’s great to set goals and intentions at the beginning of the month but remember: if you don’t achieve them all do not fret. Your goals are yours to chop and change. Your intentions and focus may change throughout the month. Go with the flow but stay motivated and keep moving towards your best life. What’re your goals for the month?

Love, Siân x

Really going to miss some of my closes college, but can’t put up with the boss anymore. Like you enough is enough time to move on. Life to short to be at work all the time. So on wood and up woods. Kids moved out time to decorate and spend more time doing what I want from now on. Xx
