My month in photos – August

My month in photos – August

I’m still trying to get my head around the fact that it’s September. I feel like someone’s holding down the fast-forward button on the remote control of my life! Judging by how quick this year has gone, I’ll blink and it’ll be Christmas and then I’ll be 89. So in an attempt to document my memories before they dissolve in my 89-year-old brain, here are some photos from my camera roll that sum up my August…

My first visit to Gelatorino – Russell Street, Covent Garden. It was a Friday and I was feeling all ‘treat yo selfffff’ so got a LARGE ice cream (evidently) for £5.50. This gets you 4 flavours – banging – but I didn’t realise this meant 4 whole scoops. They didn’t have my fav – mint choc – so I ended up with a concoction of hazelnut, pistachio, salted caramel and peanut butter. Had a veryyyy real sugar crash in the office afterwards but my god, was it worth it.

One of my August goals was to spend more quality time with family/friends and this picnic with my pals was definitely a highlight of my month! That cutie above is Carmen and I’m Maid of Honour at her wedding next year(!!!) so we had a big catch up on wedding plans whilst getting slowly bubbled. And eating all the hummus.

With August, also came Jack’s niece’s 4th birthday! We celebrated in London, first going to London Aquarium and then the Natural History Museum. I went to the aquarium with the intention of remembering some really awesome facts but my brain is shite so here’s what I’ve got for you: 1) there’s a type of tree in the Amazon rainforest called an Idiot Tree 2) a shark can smell a drop of blood in water equivalent in size to a tennis court…or something like that.

I must say, I love an aquarium but I felt really uncomfortable with the penguin enclosure there. There’s no natural lighting and the space is seriously small. The penguins didn’t look happy at all and it filled me with so much sadness because they looked genuinely unhappy. I’d love to know if anyone has any tips of what can be done to avoid this sort of enclosure?

Obligatory cute photos of Stan because I don’t think he’s featured on the blog yet and he is my life?!!!!

Another highlight of my month – Sus4 sessions @ The Dreys, Sittingbourne. We went along to support our pals The Grand Merci and had the most amazing time! Watching bands among the trees, fairy-lit paths, marshmallow roasting… it was the perfect, music-filled camping trip – and so local too! Would absolutely recommend if you love being among nature and watching live music. Here’s their upcoming events.

Thank you to everyone who made my August truly gorgeous and here’s to a September filled with just as many lovely memories!

Love, Siân x
